Tattoo's & Self Expression


This project explores the profound connection between tattoos and their role as cultural and personal narratives. Tattoos are far more than skin-deep aesthetics; they serve as powerful expressions of identity, reflecting personal milestones, spiritual beliefs, and cultural traditions. By photographing a diverse range of individuals, including plus-size models, this work examines tattoos as both cultural artefacts and deeply personal symbols.


The project focuses on two core aspects: the cultural significance of tattoos and their role in self-expression. Tattoos often act as markers of societal ideologies and historical traditions, while simultaneously celebrating individuality by encapsulating significant moments in a person’s life. Through photography, these embedded narratives are brought to light.
